Cambrian wins Canadore hockey tourney

The Cambrian Golden Shield defeated the host Canadore Panthers 2-1 to capture the Annual Canadore College Hockey Tournament at Pete Palangio arena on the weekend. The Canadore Panthers lone goal was scored by Evan Barley.

The Canadore Panthers lone goal was scored by Evan Barley. Cambrian goal scorers were Dustin McLeod and Joe Whissell.

Cambrian was undefeated in the round robin downing Georgian 10-1, Boreal 3-2 and St. Lawrence-Cornwall 6-4. In their division the Panthers defeated Nipissing University 2-1, University of Toronto Scarborough 8-3 and St. Lawrence-Brockville 5-2.

Nipissing Lakers were awarded the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Fairplay Award. During their three round robin games, they were only assessed seven penalties. That was the lowest in the tournament.

Panthers next scheduled tournament is slated for Humber College Rexdale November 17-18. Panthers will take on Mohawk, Hamilton and University of Toronto-Scarborough in the round robin format.
