Busy Weekend for Apollo Gymnastics

It was a busy weekend for the Apollo Gymnastic Club with 27 women's artistic gymnasts competing in two different competitions in Woodbridge and Alliston, Ontario.

Six level 6 gymnasts attended their second provincial qualifier of the season in Woodbridge.

Nicole Stevenson, competing in the Level 6 age 14 category, was Apollo's top performer, earning a gold medal on the uneven bars, as well as, a bronze on the floor exercise. Stevenson was awarded a bronze medal for her all-around performance. Teammate Kyla Pyne, also competing in the level 6 age 14 category, placed 2nd on the balance beam with a score of 9.325. She placed 4th all around, missing the podium by 0.05.

Other highlights include Maeve Blake (level 6 age 12) placing second on beam. Jenna Lowe (Level 6 age 13) placing 2nd on vault. Nadia Amyotte (level 6 age 16) placed 2nd on uneven bars, while Macey Smith (level 6 age 12) placed 3rd on beam.

Twenty-one gymnasts, competing in levels 1 through 4, attended the Country Hoedown Invitational competition in Alliston, Ontario. This was the first provincial qualifier for all that attended.

Competing in the level 4 age 12 category, Izzy Thomas placed at the top of the podium on the uneven bars, with a score of 9.3. Thomas placed 3rd all around out of fifteen competitors. Teammate, Madison Tremblay, competing in the level 2 age 9, was awarded a silver medal on the balance beam with a score of 9.625, as well as, a pair of bronze medals for her vault and uneven bar routines. Tremblay won the all-around bronze medal for her efforts.

On individual events, Carlie Popp (level 3 age 10) place 2nd on floor and 3rd on vault and uneven bars. Lauryn Dupuis (level 3 age 11) place 2nd on vault. Morgan Maeck (level 2 age 9) placed 2nd on uneven bars. Sophie Carre (level 2 age 10) placed 2nd on floor and Payton Bilodeau (level 1 age 9) placed second on balance beam. Sierra Richardson (level 4 age 12) placed 3rd on balance beam, while Abigail Auger (level 3 age 10) placed 3rd on vault.

Within the next three weeks, Apollo's women's team will be attending their 2nd and 3rd qualifiers in King City and Ottawa, Ontario.
