Bulldogs lose; Marauders pull off upset

Is the Northern Football Conference a wide-open affair? You bet it is. And it’s all thanks to the Milton Marauders.
Is the Northern Football Conference a wide-open affair?
You bet it is.
And it’s all thanks to the Milton Marauders.
Milton pulled off a huge upset with a 17-13 victory over the Oakville Longhorns Saturday in Milton, snapping the Longhorns 32-game undefeated streak.
It marked the first time in four years that the Longhorns tasted defeat in the NFC.
The two clubs meet in Oakville July 24.
Lost in the shuffle was the terrible outing by the North Bay Bulldogs, who were drubbed 23-1 in the Sault Saturday night.
The Steelers were all over the Bulldogs, who took a 14-12 decision over the Sault two weeks ago.
The Bulldogs have to be kicking themselves, as a victory would have put them into a tie for first place with the Longhorns, who come to North Bay for a Saturday night contest at Rollie Fischer Field.
Game time is 7 p.m.
The top seven teams make the playoffs with the top team receiving a direct bye into the semifinals.
The Bulldogs also have Sudbury and Oshawa on their home slate before the schedule ends at the end of the month.
