There is a new insider for 2010! Each week Bulldogs Slotback Kevin Padley will be giving you an insightful look at the North Bay Bulldogs. Enjoy!

First of all I would like to congratulate Coach Ryan McGowan on the birth of his first child, Brooklyn Deanne McGowan Born May 28th 2010 @ 3:09 pm, 8 lbs.

Week 1 Result:North Bay Bulldogs (2) @ Toronto Mad Dogs (13)

Week 2 Match up: Ottawa Invaders (1-0) @ North Bay Bulldogs (0-1) 5pm Saturday June 5th West Ferris SS.

Ottawa is new to the league this year and seemed to fit in nicely as they beat the Oakville Longhorns 27-0 in a penalty filled game in Ottawa last weekend. The Invaders have high expectations for this season, they believe with continued hard work they can be a championship team.

Losing in Toronto was not the way we wanted to start the season but we did see a lot of good things last week. Rookie offensive lineman Logan Commanda, slot back Ryan Purkhart and safety Ben Johnson all got to experience their first game action in the NFC and showed a lot of promise.

Something was definitely off after a disappointing showing from the Bulldogs offense in game 1. Not putting any points on the board, the players took it upon themselves to have extra practices throughout the week to work on timing and route packages.

This weekend is a big game for the Bulldogs; the Invaders have a lot of talented players with CFL and CIS experience in their secondary. Bulldogs receivers Andre Landry, who played for Ottawa U and Nick Graham, who wouldn’t feel out of place at any University camp, are excited both to show off their skills in front of a loud home crowd. Now that the first game jitters are gone the young players know what to expect and now we have a chance to send a message by beating a team that just came off a convincing win.

The theme for this weekend’s game is “Bulldogs Believe”, in support of Paula’s Patriots Relay for Life team. We have been selling Pink Bulldogs t-shirts for the last month to support the cause and we invite anyone that purchased a shirt to please wear it to the game on Saturday.

Come out and support your North Bay Bulldogs this Saturday June 5th at West Ferris SS 5 pm.
