The North Bay Bantam 'AAA' Hilltop Variety Blades continue to play some good hockey as they took 2 of 3 from the Nickel City Sons in Levack this weekend.

The Sons opened with a 2-0 shutout over the Blades as the Blades were outshot 32-13 but goalie Rick Guay kept it close.

On Saturday night the Blades rebounded with a close 4-3 victory over the Sons as Kieran Peltier, Ray Major, Brodie Whitehead and Martin Strasbourg scored for the Blades in the victory.

On Sunday Tait Seguin and Peltier each scored twice in a 6-3 win. Josh Storie and Kyle Baril did the rest of the scoring for the Blades.

Despite that opening loss, head coach Rob Ladouceur felt his team played well all weekend.

"Nickel City likes to play an aggressive game which we matched up well in that department," said Ladouceur.

"It's great to be rewarded for all the hard work everyone is putting in, especially heading into the Christmas break."

The Blades do have a long break as their next action is January 17th when they take on the Soo Jr. Greyhounds in Sault Ste. Marie.
