Blades take 2 from Sudbury

The North Bay Hilltop Variety Bantam 'AAA' Blades won two of three at home this weekend against the visiting Sudbury Wolves. In the opener on Saturday Josh Storie, Brodie Whitehead and Tanner Owca had goals to lead the Blades to a 3-1 win.

In the opener on Saturday Josh Storie, Brodie Whitehead and Tanner Owca had goals to lead the Blades to a 3-1 win.

In their next game Saturday night the Blades repeated with another 3-1 victory over the Wolves wih Storie leading the way offensively with 2 goals. Mike Mason scored the other goal in the win.

On Sunday morning Sudbury found the win column with a 5-1 victory. Mike Mason scored the lone goal in loss as the Blades now sits at 6-8-2.

Blades head coach Rob Ladouceur said execution was the key to victory on Saturday but not the case Sunday morning.

"Sunday I think we lost focus and we felt a bit too comfortable with having taking the first two games," admitted Ladouceur.

The Blades will take the week of from Northern Ontario Bantam 'AAA' league play as they take part in the Big Nickel Tournament in Sudbury starting on Thursday.
