Big Brothers win New Liskeard Bantam tourney

New Liskeard, ON - West Ferris Big Brothers Bantam A Hockey Team downed Temiskaming Shores Miller Paving 2-1 in a thrilling final game Sunday to claim top honours in the 24th Annual Temiskaming Shores Challenge Bantam Tournament on the weekend.
New Liskeard, ON - West Ferris Big Brothers Bantam A Hockey Team downed Temiskaming Shores Miller Paving 2-1 in a thrilling final game Sunday to claim top honours in the 24th Annual Temiskaming Shores Challenge Bantam Tournament on the weekend.

The Big Brothers ended the round robin play in first place after defeating Porcupine Thunder 1 - 0, East Nipissing Vipers 6 - 1 and finally tieing Temiskaming Shores Miller Paving 3 -3 . By finishing first in the Round Robin, the West Ferris entry received a bye to the finals, setting up an eventual rematch with Temiskaming Shores.

Goaltenders Nicholas DeVuono and Mitchell Rogerson were solid in net, with DeVuono holding a 1.50 G.A.A. including a shutout and Rogerson completing the tournament with 1.00 G.A.A..

Pace setters for the West Ferris squad were Phillipe Dufresne with 6 points, Devon McGirr close behind with 5, while Jake Callahan, Christopher Eaton, Cameron Gummo, Zak Campbell and Chad Gagnon each recorded 3 points over the weekend.

Other team members who worked hard all weekend to ensure the victory are Trevor Luckett, Dylan Baril, Tim Callahan, Daniel Trudel, Kyle Darbyson, Michael Wilkinson, Alexandre Rancourt and Tye Sheppard.

The team is coached by Carmen Anello, Sandro Orlando and Germain Trudel with Rob Eaton as Trainer and Jeff Rogerson, Manager.
