Beavers nip Skyhawks

The North Bay Skyhawks salvaged a point in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Blind River Beavers in Blind River on Saturday night.
The North Bay Skyhawks salvaged a point in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Blind River Beavers in Blind River on Saturday night.

Brad Hummel scored the tying goal to force the game into overtime before Alex Falardeau scored the game winner for the Beavers.

Kody Carnevale, Travis Bradshaw and Trent Lizee scored the other goals for the Skyhawks. Dustin Fummerton and Justin Roy had two assists each.

Former Beavers goalie Andre Laperriere took the loss in goal for the Skyhawks.

It was another frustrating game for the Skyhawks who badly outshot the Beavers 49-19 but came up short in the end on the scoresheet.

Once again Skyhawks head coach Darren Turcotte was pleased with the effort but not the results.

“We outshot the opposition 104-49 in the last two road games and come out with a squeeked out win and an overtime loss,” said Skyhawks head coach Darren Turcotte.

“We’ve got to keep doing what we’ve been doing,” he insists. “We’ve got to hope the flood gates open and everyone will start scoring.”

The Skyhawks hope the scoring floodgates open on Sunday night when the Skyhawks return home for a date with the Abitibi Eskimos. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.
