The North Bay Skyhawks were able to sneak out of Sault Ste. Marie with a shootout victory but the Blind River Beavers weren't so accommodating Saturday night as the Beavers snuck by the Skyhawks 2-1 in a shootout.

Kody Carnevale scored the only goal for the Skyhawks as they fired 48 shots on the Beavers net on the night.

Adam Combs was the difference as he scored the only goal of the shootout on the Beavers 4th shootout attempt.

Despite the loss, Skyhawks head coach Ian Swalucynski was impressed with the intensity the club displayed as they outshot the Beavers every period.

“We played hard and I think we were snake bitten,” said Swalucynski.

“Ian Wilson stepped up and played well for us. We played well and we had our chances and their goaltender played well and we put the pressure on the whole game and we skated well.”

The Skyhawks wrap up the regular season next Sunday night as they host the Blind River Beavers.
