The St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears build up a 6-0 lead and held on for an 8-5 victory over the Widdifield Wildcats in game one of the NDA semifinal Wednesday night at Memorial Gardens.

Bears head coach John Wilson was not impressed with his club's letdown which allowed the underdogs to get back into the game.

"I thought we got into the game early but for some reason we decided to stop and Widdifield is a very good team they are not here by accident because they work their tails off and when you stop you're going to give up all sorts of chances," said Wilson.

Randy Twomey led the Bears offensive attack with three goals, while Paul Traynor and Brad Hummel each added a pair and Guy Wallace had a single goal.

Adam Courvoisier had two goals for the Wildcats with singles going to Dylan Cote, Jason Ethier and Nick Cliche.

The two teams meet again Friday at 6 p.m. and game three (if necessary) would take place Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.

Raider runaway

The Chippewa Raiders shut out the FJ McElligott Voyageurs 6-0 to take a one game lead in the best-of-three semifinal Thursday night.

Game two of that series will take place Friday night in Mattawa.
