Bears fend off Trojans comeback

Had the West Ferris Lady Trojans showed up to play the first quarter of their match against the St.Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears they may very well have walked away with the victory.
Had the West Ferris Lady Trojans showed up to play the first quarter of their match against the St.Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears they may very well have walked away with the victory. The Lady Trojans sluggish start proved to be thier undoing as they fell to the Bears 30-28 last night in the Bear Pit. After falling behind 9-2 in the first quarter the Trojans looked like they were done. During the quarter break coach Peggy Smith must have said something that lite a fire under her charges as they came out in the 2nd scoring 10 points and holding the Bears offence to only 4. With the Trojans back in the game and trailing by only 1 point at the half the spectators in attendance were in for a competative sesaw back and forth 2nd half. The Bears outscored the Trojans 9-8 in the 3rd quarter and both teams shot even in the 4th with 8 points each. Tristin Tremblay scored the winning basket for the Bears with no time left on the clock to give the Bears a 30-28 win. Top scorers for the Bears were Christie Davidson with 10 points, Tristan Tremblay with 8 points and Allison Loyst with 4. The Lady Trojans top scoreres were Ashley Zen with 10 points, Sarah Pledge with 5 and both Mckenzie Devlin and Aaron Paibomsai with 4 points.

Jr. Trojans over Bears

In the Junior contest last night at the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall gym the Trojans Junior girls did not disappoint as they defeated the Bears 27-23. Both teams played an aggressive style and left nothing in the tank as the Junior tilt was just as entertaining as the Senior game played before. With the Junior Lady Trojans jumping out to a 5-1 1st quarter lead the Bears did not sit back and take it lightly. Led by thier bench the Bears came out strong in the 2nd quarter and outscored the Trojans 10-6. With both teams tied at 11 going into the half the game became a battle of defences and who could win the boards. On this night the Trojans were able to come up with some timely baskets as well as rebounds that allowed them to control the pace of the game in the end. The game wasn't decided until the final minute when Katie Sargent notched the go ahead basket off of an inbounds pass from Brittany Inthof. A plesant surprise for the Trojans tonight was the play of Jessie Rigby coming off the bench to score 2 quick buckets that allowed the Lady Trojans to carry some momentum into the final frame.

Top scorers for the Bears wre C.Robitaille with 8 points and E. Jeannault with 5 and both B. Tancredi and C. Menard each with 4 points.

For the Lady Trojans they were led by Jen Leckie with 9 pts Katie Sargent with 6 and Caitlin Meyers, Kally Watmore and Rigby each with 4.
