Bears clinch NDA hockey title

Brad Hummel scored three times to lead the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears to a convincing 7-1 win over the Chippewa Raiders to capture the NDA hockey championship.

Ben Carriere, Guy Wallace, Tyler Hummel and Paul Traynor added singles for the Bears, while Eric Nicholls scored the only Raider goal.

Bears head coach John Wilson was thrilled with the victory.

“I told these kids and they believed that discipline and hard work all year is going to do the things for them that they needed to do and that’s exactly what they did tonight was just discipline and hard work,” said Wilson.

Brad Hummel put and exclamation mark on his MVP like season netting a hat trick for the Bears, who bounced back from a miserable season in ’04-05.

“I just feels so good after last year only winning four games and going all the way this year it’s just amazing,” said Brad Humme
