Battalion look for .500 as they take on rival Wolves

The North Bay Battalion do not want to take the Sudbury Wolves lightly.

The Battalion riding a season-high five game winning streak begin a home and home series tonight against the struggling Sudbury Wolves.

The Wolves come into the Gardens Thursday night with only two wins in their last 10 games and sit in dead last in the OHL’s Eastern Conference.

However, Butler knows the Wolves would like nothing more than to sweep a series in this northern rivalry.

“I’m sure there’s nothing they’d like to do better than beat us, and we’ve got to be ready for them,” Butler told the media during his weekly Wednesday press conference.

“It’s nice to get on a bit of a winning streak. We had a couple of losing streaks earlier. It’s a credit to the kids. They have a ‘Never say die attitude’ in a lot of the games. It would have been easy for them not to stick with the games and just give up, but to their credit what they’ve done is they’ve worked hard and they’ve stayed at it, and as a result of that they’ve been successful,” he added.

A win tonight can also bring the Troops back to the .500 mark as the local squad sits in third spot on the Central Division and 6th in the OHL’s Eastern Conference with a record of 18-19-5-1.

Justin Brazeau has an opportunity this weekend to hit the 30-goal mark as he sits fourth overall in the OHL with 28 goals so far this season.

The Troops travel to Sudbury for the second half of the home-and-home series on Friday night and on Sunday they return home to North Bay to take on Evan Cormier and the Saginaw Spirit.
