Battalion forward Coe to dress for Team Canada

For the second year in a row, a member of the North Bay Battalion will be competing at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.  

Battalion 2017 first round pick Brandon Coe is one of 66 skaters and goaltenders named Tuesday to represent Canada at the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Right winger Coe will play on one of three Canadian rosters, Canada Red, Canada White and Canada Black, at the eight-team tournament to be held Nov. 5-11 at Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, B.C., Hockey Canada announced. 

Coe, who has three points in his first nine games this season.  

“I’m pretty proud to represent my country in this tournament and I’m looking forward to it,” said Coe on battalionhockey.com 

Battalion forward Adam McMaster came home with a silver medal from the event held in Sault Ste. Marie where he competed for Team Canada Black.  

Other teams in the event are the United States, Russia, Finland, Sweden and the Czech Republic.

Ryan Oulahen, a former Battalion captain and assistant coach and now coach of the Flint Firebirds, will serve as head coach of Canada White.

TSN and RDS will telecast one semifinal and the bronze- and gold-medal games.
