The Algonquin Barons evened up their best-of-three NDA Sr. Boys Basketball semifinal at 1-1 after they edged the Chippewa Raiders 49-41 at Algonquin Wednesday afternoon.

The Raiders opened the series with a 59-41 victory on Monday to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Both teams go back to "The Raider dome" for the deciding game which goes at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

West Ferris completes sweep

The West Ferris Trojans completed the two game sweep over Northern with a 75-36 victory in Sturgeon Falls on Wednesday.

West Ferris Head Coach Larry Tougas mixed up his lineup in the victory.

“Naturally I hope we can play better, we did what we had to do, I thought we were a bit lackadaisical defensively," he said.

Tougas credits the Northern Braves for their "Never Say Die" attitude.

"Northern doesn’t quit, they keep coming at you down by a lot or a little," said Tougas.

The winner of the Barons/Raiders game will meet the Trojans in the NDA Sr. Boys finals which will start Saturday night at West Ferris Senior Secondary.
