Barons eliminate Wildcats

The Algonquin Barons blanked the Widdifield Wildcats 3-0 on Saturday night to win their NDA hockey quarter-final series in two straight. The Barons opened up with a 4-0 shutout over the Cats in game one of the series on Wednesday night.

The Barons opened up with a 4-0 shutout over the Cats in game one of the series on Wednesday night.

Patrick Lavigne, Ben Brisson and Dillon Duquette scored for the Barons in the series clinching game. Barons goalie Richard Delorme was credited with the shutout.

Trojans even series

In the other quarter-final on Saturday night, the West Ferris Trojans staved off elimination by defeating the Chippewa Raiders 3-1. Scorers not available.

The Raiders opened the series with a 3-2 win over the Trojans on Wednesday.

The deciding game of that series will take place at a yet to be determined time on Wednesday.

On Friday night the FJ McElligott Voyageurs finished off the Franco Cite Patriotes winning game two of that series 3-2. The Voyageurs opened with a tight double overtime 1-0 victory over the Pats on Thursday in Sturgeon Falls.
