The Algonquin Barons Senior Girls Basketball team continued its winning ways by downing the Franco-Cité Patriotes 41-7 in Sturgeon Falls. They led 6-2 after the first quarter and 16 - 5 at the half. In the second half, the Barons outscored the Patriotes 31-2. Alisha Perron led the Barons with 15 points, while Sarah Trottier added 8 points. For the Pats, Jess Knight potted 4 points and Brianne Perron chipped in with 2.

"The score was not indicative of the game", said Barons head coach Tim Lowe. "They (the Pats) work extremely hard on defense and made us work for everything we got, especially in the first half. They couldn't buy a basket", he added.

"But our defensive play is the key to our game plan. We came out in the second half and managed to apply the type of pressure that creates turnovers, which in turn leads to easy lay-ups", said Lowe.

Next up for the Senior Barons are the Chippewa Raiders on Tuesday, October 2nd at 6:30 p.m. at the Raiderdome.
