The Algonquin Barons first 3 batters loaded up the bases in the 1st inning for Brady St-Jean who cleared the bases with a stand up double to collect 3 RBIs. The big first inning helped propel the Barons to a 6-3 victory over the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears at Veterans Field Monday afternoon.
Miguel Champagne earned the win striking out 5 Bears and stranding 8 base-runners over 5 innings. Matt Blanchfield pitched in relief with 5 strikeouts of his own but fell victim to a couple of defensive errors that allowed 3 Bears to put 3 runs of their side of the scoresheet in the bottom of the 7th inning. The High School teams are preparing for a play-off schedule next week.
