Barons beat Trojans in NDA Girls B-ball opener

The Algonquin Barons downed the West Ferris Trojans in the NDA Senior Girls basketball season opener Thursday night with a 40-25 win in a game played at the West Ferris gym.
The Algonquin Barons downed the West Ferris Trojans in the NDA Senior Girls basketball season opener Thursday night with a 40-25 win in a game played at the West Ferris gym. Returning starters Jolinne Maisonneuve and Alisha Perron led the Barons with 15 and 13 points respectively, while Sarah Trottier and grade 10 starter Nadine Perron each chipped in with 4. Aaron Paibomsai led the Trojans with 10 pts, while Sarah Pledge had 5 points and Jazzmyn Walker Ashlyn Zen added 4 each.

The Barons used their patented tough defense to power their to victory by holding the Trojans to 3 and 4 points respectively in the 2nd and 4th quarters, and held off a 3rd quarter onslaught by the Trojans which say them outscore the Barons 13 to 8.

Next up for the Barons are the SJSH Bears next Thursday while the Trojans meet up with the Chippewa Raiders on Tuesday night.
