North Bay – Thursday, August 9, 2005, marks a new beginning for the West Ferris Minor Hockey Association (WFMHA) and particularly the Major Bantam AAA hockey team. Going back to North Bay’s historical hockey roots and looking towards the future, WFMHA executives and team management today announced the team will be officially renamed the Blades. Along with a new name comes a new corporate sponsor Hilltop Variety who will lend important support in establishing a strong and committed hockey program.

The Hilltop Variety Blades under Coaches, Mark Kosturik, Alex Geisler and Mark Long will take to the ice this fall and compete in the Northern Ontario Bantam Hockey League (NOBHL). Looking forward to this hockey season the team also announces Phase III of their tryout program, which will be held from 21-28 August, 2005 at Pete Palangio Arena. Phase III is open to any new prospects born in 1991 or 1992. Interested players are encouraged to contact Mark Kosturik at 495-0945 or Manager, Jack Bouchard at 472-2387. For more information on the Hilltop Variety Blades and the NOBHL, please visit the NOBHL website at www.nobhl.ca.
