Bandits steal a win

Mississauga - The West Ferris Big Brothers Bandits ended their season by going undefeated and claiming top honours in the Bill Buss Spring Invitational Tournament this last weekend.


Mississauga - The West Ferris Big Brothers Bandits ended their season by going undefeated and claiming top honours in the Bill Buss Spring Invitational Tournament this last weekend. The Bandits reeled off 5 straight shutouts before defeating the Toronto Eagles 4-1 in the Championship game. Shutouts were recorded by Michael Carr (3), and Jonathan Goulet (2). A new eleven year tournament record was set with the locals allowing only one goal in six games. In their first game the Bandits defeated the Port Credit Storm 2-0. Goalscorers were Zach Deschenes and Andrew Gerolami. They then defeated the Applewood Coyotes 6-0 in game number two. Goalscorers were Anthony Celebre with two and single tallies going to Andrew Gerolami, Darren Palmer, Chad Butler and Dean Watson. The third game against Nickel Centre Flyers resulted in a 0-0 tie. Game four had the locals shutting out the Toronto Ice Dogs 5-0 with goals coming from Anthony Celebre (2), Darren Palmer, Brent Griffith and Andrew Gerolami. The Bandits won 3-0 in their semi-final game earning them their fifth straight shutout. Darren Palmer, Chad Butler and Brent Griffith scored the goals.

In the final, Darren Palmer scored twice with singles from Ryan Robertson, and Dean Watson. Jonathan Goulet was outstanding in goal.

The Bandits successful season this year also earned them the Almaguin Tournament Championship, The Bell Cup Consolation Championship, The Armstrong Motors Challenge Cup Championship, and were also Bantam House League Regular Season Champions.

Other team members include Raymond Major, Derek Dinezza, Nick MacMillan, James Priolo, Matthew Vigars, and Connor Jones.

Team staff includes Sheila Dinezza, Ron Major, Scott Carr and Mike Dinezza.
