Bandits can't steal Early Bird Gold

The West Ferris Hilltop Variety Bandits participated in the Peewee AA division of the 24th annual West Ferris Early Bird Tournament on the weekend. The Bandits started the round robin play against Rayside Balfour Tigers.


The West Ferris Hilltop Variety Bandits participated in the Peewee AA division of the 24th annual West Ferris Early Bird Tournament on the weekend. The Bandits started the round robin play against Rayside Balfour Tigers. The game was tight defensively with both teams giving up few chances. The Bandits prevailed on goals by Jordan Sullivan and Adam Fulton to pull out a 2-1 victory. In game two, the Bandits faced the Mississauga Terriers and showed excellent team speed and pinpoint passing to clinch a 5-3 victory. Goals were scored by Lucas Brown, Grant Hatherley, Adam Fulton and Tyler Peters who notched 2 goals. In the final round robin game, the Bandits faced Timmins and moved the puck confidently throughout the game securing a 9-0 victory. Goal scorers were Hatherley (2), Fulton (2), Brown (2), Peters (2) and Matthew Peterson-Galema. Mathew Chatelaine had the shut-out.

With this 3-0 record, the Bandits were given a bye to the finals where they again faced the Mississauga Terriers. The Bandits fought hard, however on this day, the Terriers were victorious with a 2-0 win. This was the first tournament of the season for the Bandits and proved to be an excellent starting point to build on.

Bandit team members are: Marc Audet, Mathew Chatelaine, Cohen Allison, Lucus Brown, Colin Jerome, Grant Hatherley, Adam Fulton, Jackson Newman, Paul Wilkinson, Aaron Dart, Tyler Peters, Justin Rancourt, Fraser Duhaime, Jordan Sullivan, Cody Sutcliffe and Matthew Peterson-Galema. Coaching staff: Ken Sutcliffe, Rob Jerome, Dave Wilkinson and Chris Fulton.
