Ash new Panthers volleyball coach

Canadore Athletics is pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Ash as the new head coach of the Panther men’s volleyball program.
Canadore Athletics is pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Ash as the new head coach of the Panther men’s volleyball program. Craig was previously involved with the Panther men’s volleyball team in the 2002-2003 season, when he served as the team’s assistant coach. Craig brings a wealth of knowledge to the program, including 3 years of playing experience for the Panthers at the OCAA level (1994-1997). A graduate from the Recreation Leadership/Business Management program at Canadore, Craig is currently working with Clarica Financial Services. “We are very happy to have Craig return to the Panthers coaching staff. Craig is committed to working hard to create a higher profile for the Panther Men’s volleyball program,” comments Panther Athletic Director Linda Turcotte.

“I am looking forward to working with some strong returnees as well as developing the new members of the team this year. Our main focuses will be to pick up where we left off last year and to improve our record,” Ash remarks. Craig will have multiple returning athletes to support him in his new position. Five players have the potential to return to their roles on the Panther roster this fall.

Diane Clarke, the men’s head coach during the 2004-2005 season, will become the women’s head coach for the 2005-2006 season. “Diane was a natural choice to become our new women’s head coach,” comments Turcotte. “She has a great understanding of the women’s game from her days playing for the University of Western Ontario.” Diane played four years on the volleyball team at Western while earning her Kinesiology degree. Highlights from her playing days include 1 OUA gold medal, 3 OUA bronze medals and a trip to national championships. “Coaching the women’s program at Canadore will provide me with a new challenge. I will be working hard along with the athletes to build a solid team and program,” reflects Clarke.
