This past Sunday the Northeast Region [Region Two of the Ontario Volleyball Association] held tryouts for the girls’ Regional Volleyball team. The tryouts were conducted at Nipissing University and North Bay high school athletes performed very well.

Stephanie Jennings, Abby Crown, Kelsey-Jane Lamprecht and Meghan Buckle were selected from St. Joseph-Scollard Hall.

Jane Ferguson and Caitlyn Alyman were selected from Widdifield with Kayla Kostric as an alternate and Natalie Dupuis was selected from Algonquin.

The girls will now attend Humber College from July 14th to the 17th for a Provincial training session with all the Provincial regional teams.

They will have the opportunity to train with some of the top coaches in the Province, as well as train with the top 108 16-and-under athletes in the Province.

As this is a Summer Games year the girls will also represent the Northeast Region at the Summer Games. The games are being hosted by the City of Sudbury. This will give the girls somewhat of a home court advantage, as Sudbury athletes make-up an equally significant portion of the Northeast team. The Summer games will run from August 10th to the 13th with most of the games scheduled for Cambrian College.
