The Kingston-Whig Standard is reporting that the Kingston Frontenacs may be up for sale as soon as Wednesday.

Kingston city council will be voting tonight on a recommendation that the city cancel the construction of tne cities new downtown arena.

“There is no question that if they cancel the project, the Kingston Frontenacs will be on their way,” Fronts co-owner Doug Springer told the Whig Standard.

The motion was drawn up after it was revealed last week that cost overruns would add at least $4 million to the approximately $41 million arena budget.

The potential sale of another OHL franchise may make the Ice Dogs situation even more challenging.

That could also mean good news for the Mantha group seeking a franchise for North Bay. With potentially two teams on the block the chances of North Bay landing an OHL franchise may have actually improved.
