Mark down the name Zachary Roy, as the latest North Bay native to sign with an Ontario Hockey League team.

The Hamilton Bulldogs received a commitment this week for the goaltender who was selected in the 4th round of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection.

Roy, a 5’11” and 165-pound goaltender, was selected to take part in the 12th annual Hockey Canada Program of Excellence goaltending camp this past summer. He also led his Toronto Young Nationals team to the best record in the GTHL last season along with a berth in the OHL Cup Final.

Roy, signed in the off-season with the CCHL’s Rockland Nationals (Junior A).

“We are excited to have received a commitment from Zach Roy,” said Bulldogs President and General Manager Steve Staios in a release.

“He has tremendous upside and we look forward to his continued development with Rockland this season.”

Roy also attended the Bulldogs Rookie Orientation Camp in April and the team’s main Training Camp in August.

Roy is the third North Bay player to join the Hamilton Bulldogs organization as Voodoos forward Dylan D’Agostino signed in September and Ben Garagan is on the current OHL roster.
