North Bay Battalion forward Mike Amadio was named Sault Ste. Marie's HP Broughton award winner on Tuesday night as the Soo's sportsperson of the year.

Amadio is coming off an Ontario Hockey League season that saw him set career highs in most offensive categories, including goals (50), assists (48) and points (98).

Amadio signed an entry level contract with the Los Angeles Kings in March after being selected by the team in the third round of the 2014 NHL entry draft.

In 263 career games with the Battalion, Amadio had 92 goals and 226 points.

Amadio earned OHL second team all-star honours for his season in 2015-16.
