A dozen in 20 minutes for the Trappers

The North Bay Trappers scored 12 goals in the first period en route to a decisive 19-2 victory over the Kapuskasing Flyers on Saturday night.
The North Bay Trappers scored 12 goals in the first period en route to a decisive 19-2 victory over the Kapuskasing Flyers on Saturday night.

The first period was quite a contrast from their Friday contest against the Flyers where the two clubs were knotted at 3-3 after one period.

“We were dominant,” said Trappers head coach Beau Moyer whose club went on to a 9-3 win over the Flyers Friday.

“We played terrible on Friday and that was the message that we have to get off to a good start.”

Jordon Scott and Nick Huard padded their stats against the last place Flyers with 4 goals each.

Mitchell Davis had a hat trick and singles went to Anthony Trozzo, Peter Easton, Darnell Koosees, Roch Pellerin, Dakota Barnhardt and Zach Hunter.

Moyer says the lop sided win makes it tough for the team to stay focused but the goal outburst is still good for the team’s confidence.

“Guys in a scoring slump like Jordon Scott – it’s good for him to get four goals coming into end of regular season and playoffs,” said Moyer.

The Trappers play their third game in three days as they meet the Timmins Majors Sunday afternoon at the McIntyre arena in Timmins.
