5 golds for Titans Bouchard

BRANTFORD, ON. - The place to be this weekend was at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre in Brantford, Ontario for the Division 3 Provincial Championships where the North Bay Y Titans brought on some exciting swimming action.


BRANTFORD, ON. - The place to be this weekend was at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre in Brantford, Ontario for the Division 3 Provincial Championships where the North Bay Y Titans brought on some exciting swimming action.

Twenty swimmers from the team both junior and senior qualified and were selected to attend the Provincial Meet. Representing the juniors were Rebecca Gough, Rochelle Leppert, Grace Liritzis, Keltan Baran, Katherine Tripp and Samantha Cowan. The juniors came on strong with Liritzis grabbing a silver in the 50 meter butterfly and Leppert swimming hard and achieving 100% personal best times in all her events. Cowan had an exciting 200 meter individual medley and 200 meter freestyle claiming a 6th and 7th place finish respectively.

Dominique Bouchard brought on the heat nailing 5 golds while teammates Bryanna Penno brought home two golds and two silvers; Jeremy Sallie claimed two silvers and a bronze while achieving an Age Group National Time;

Angelina Bochakova-Racine who swam several strong races brought home a silver in the 100 meter freestyle and Jennifer Leckie nailed the bronze in the 100 meter breaststroke.

Some of the highlights of the meet were the impressive swims by Renee Gagnon who flew to 6th position in her 100 meter butterfly, Brittany Pask's 200 meter backstroke where she grabbed a 4th place position and Kristen Gough and Max Giesler who swam to 8th position in her 200 meter breaststroke and his 100 meter butterfly. Nicole plumb sailed into 6th position in her 100 meter freestyle and 8th in the 100 meter butterfly. Ashley Duquette received an 8th position in her 200 meter freestyle.

Max Sherry, Shelby Twilt and Kelsey O'Connor achieved several personal best times while Twilt took off ten seconds on her 400 meter freestyle.

The team fought to claim fifth place position overall out of 40 teams and will move up to Division Two Provincials next year.
