TEN GUIDE POSTS TAKEN-OUT
Hit and Run, Highway 17 West of Mattawa

The Mattawa OPP are investigating the damage to 10 guide posts on the north side of Highway 17 just east of Tembec, west of the town of Mattawa, Papineau-Cameron Township.

Police received information that a cube van had collided with guide posts on Highway 17 shortly before 1:00 p.m. on Monday May 31st, 2004 west of Mattawa on Highway 17.

The collision caused a small grass fire at the Papineau-Cameron location that was extinguished by a passing motorist.

Reports were that the van was west bound on Highway 17. The investigation revealed that the posts were knocked down by an east bound vehicle.

Police are asking for your assistance regarding a cube van with possible damage to the driver’s side.
