MATTAWA VOYAGER DAYS ENFORCEMENT
Safe and Secure Weekend

(Mattawa, Ontario)
Mattawa OPP along with the North Bay OPP Marine Unit, North Bay Cluster members, the North Bay OPP Auxiliary Unit, the North Bay Crime Unit, the North East Region Traffic and Marine Unit and the North East Region Snowmobile, All-terrain vehicle & Vessel Enforcement (S.A.V.E.)Team were on hand this past weekend in the town of Mattawa during their annual festival. The well mannered tourists and local festival goers made for a smooth safe and secure weekend (Friday July 23rd to Sunday July 25th, 2004).

OPP officers arrested five males and one female for Public Intoxication which was amongst the 18 liquor violations throughout the weekend. One impaired charge and one disturbance charge were the only two criminal charges laid during the festival. There were no reported injuries. Mattawa OPP responded to many minor incidents while OPP officers and OPP Auxiliary officers provided security at the entertainment venue at Explorer’s Point.

The OPP would like to commend the Mattawa Voyager Days’ Organizers, Site Security Team, Bar Staff and Volunteer Staff at the Explorer’s Point Entertainment Venue who did a exemplary job prior to and during the weekend in providing for a safe environment for the general public.
