KEEP YOUR WHEELS ON MARKED PAVEMENT
Unsafe Passing Can Cause Major Collisions

(North Bay, Ontario)
OPP continue to monitor a section of the North Bay Bypass between the Highway 17 off-ramp and Seymour Street for vehicles driving on the gravel shoulder. This common, yet illegal, driving maneuver posses a risk to drivers making the right merge onto Seymour Street because they are not expecting to be overtaken by vehicles driving illegally on the shoulder of the highway.

Police have noticed that this violation occurs especially when the volume of traffic is up. Traffic becomes backed-up during busy times including when the train crosses the Bypass. Police are asking drivers to be extra patient during these busy times and refrain from passing off the roadway towards Seymour Street.

Besides the ìfail to drive in the marked laneí ticket, motorists can be charged with ëpass on right not in safetyí and ìpass off roadwayî. All three moving violations will cost the driver $90 plus a $20 victim surcharge and 3 demerit points.

Please use caution and remain in the marked lanes; it is the safest way to get to your destination.
