(Powassan, On): Powassan OPP have been alerted to two (2) separate incidents regarding the break-in to ice shacks that were on South Bay, Lake Nipissing earlier this month.

Sometime between Wednesday March 3rd and Monday March 8th, 2004, someone forced their way into locked ice shacks which were located off the North West shore of Boles's Island, South Bay on Lake Nipissing. In one ice shack, loose tackle, two (2) tackle boxes and a 12 volt car battery all worth $250.00 were stolen. In the other ice shack thieves took a Reverseomatic Propane heater, a propane regulator, a cast iron hot plate, 4 fishing rods, a Coleman tent heater and loose tackle all worth $940.00. Police continue their investigation.

Hwy 11 Temagami Intermittently Closed

(Temagami, ON) Heavy equipment is now working to remove the tractor trailer that entered the ditch on Hwy 11, Temagami yesterday morning.

Officers report that the traffic will be stopped intermittently in both directions for the next couple of hours and they will allow traffic through as permitted.

Officers at the scene are asking drivers to take precaution when entering the area and be to patient.

The OPP communication center respectfully asks the public to refrain from phoning for information, but listen to the local radio stations for updates.

Media will be advised when the highway is clear or if the situation changes.
