FOUR INJURED AS ROAD IS CLOSED FOR ALMOST THREE HOURS
(North Bay, ON)
Officers from North Bay, Mattawa and Powassan OPP were busy yesterday investigating numerous motor vehicle collisions on Highway 11 and 17 in and around North Bay sending four to North Bay General Hospital.
All were treated and released with minor injuries.
North Bay Ministry of Transportation (MTO) employees assisted the OPP with traffic control and the Highway 11 road closure.

Shortly before 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday December 10th, 2003, officers responded to a multi vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 11 northbound between the Highway 17 overpass to Ottawa and the Lakeshore Road overpass.
Three persons were sent to hospital from this four-vehicle collision. Numerous other collisions and vehicles in ditches, were investigated shortly after throughout the area.

Another person was injured in a Highway 11 collision.
All four (4) lanes of Highway 11 were closed from approximately 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., from Seymour Street to Highway 654, to allow emergency vehicle and tow trucks to clear the mishaps.
Rain and freezing rain was encountered in the area before and during the closure. Tractor-trailer traffic was backed up on Highway 11 northbound from Powassan to the Highway 654 underpass.

North Bay OPP would like to remind motorists to be patient during the changing weather conditions prior to winter. Please pay attention to media warnings about changing weather and plan your travel accordingly.
