NEW YORK MAN DIES IN SNOWMOBILE CRASH

At approximately 4:40 p.m. yesterday, OPP officers were dispatched to a fatal snowmobile collision approximately 10 kms east of Hearst in Devitt Twp.

The Ontario visitor was operating his snowmobile westbound on OFSC A Trail, with six other snowmobilers.

The investigation indicated that his snowmobile hit a series of bumps in the trail, causing him to lose control and roll the snowmobile. The driver was subsequently thrown from the snowmobile and sustained fatal injuries.

When OPP officers arrived at the scene, the man was without vital signs. Officers performed CPR and transported him in a rescue sleigh to an awaiting ambulance.

Jeffery SPENGLER, 36 of Boston, New York was pronounced dead at Notre Dame Hospital in Hearst .

An OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator attended the scene and is still investigating the incident.
