MISCHIEF AND THEFT FROM VEHICLE

(Mattawa , On)
At approximately 3:00 p.m., on Friday February 20th, 2004, a Mattawa resident parked her 2003 silver Honda CRV at the Mike Roden Arena located at 450 Hurdman Street in Mattawa. When she returned at approximately 7:30 p.m., she found that the rear window was broken and some items taken. Police investigated the incident and discovered that a purse and a child’s back-pack were stolen. Police continue their investigation.

TWO CHARGED FOR IMPAIRED OVER WEEKEND

Shortly after 2:00 p.m., on Saturday February 21st, 2004, in response to a traffic complaint, Constable Dave Moore of the Powassan OPP stopped a northbound green Buick on Highway 11, South Himsworth Township. There were numerous complaints about this vehicle, and at one point it was observed bouncing off a snow bank. Upon checking the driver, Constable Moore arrested him for Impaired Driving.

44 year-old Bruce Joly of North Bay is charged with the following:

1) Impaired Driving, Section 253(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
2) Fail to Provide Breath Sample, Section 254(5) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
3) Fail to Drive Marked Lane, Section 154(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act.
4) Drive Motor Vehicle With Open Liquor, Section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act.
5) Drive Motor Vehicle With Liquor Readily Available, Section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act.



Joly is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, 360 Ploufe Street, North Bay, Ontario on Tuesday March 30th, 2004.

Shortly after midnight on Monday February 23rd, 2004, Constable Dean Pauli of the Powassan OPP checked a westbound 2003 Subaru Baha on Highway 522 South Himsworth Township. As a result of the check, Constable Pauli arrested the female driver for impaired driving.

55 year-old Linda Paton is currently being held for a bail hearing scheduled for Monday February 23rd, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ontario Court of Justice, 360 Ploufe Street, North Bay, Ontario. Paton is charged with:

1) Drive Motor Vehicle with over 80 mgs, Section 253(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
2) Breach of Probation, Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
