During Week 1 of the North Bay, Mattawa, and Powassan Festive R.I.D.E. Initiative (Nov 28 – Dec 4, 2003) 1,751 vehicles were stopped. OPP officers issued four (4) 12-hour suspensions and no drivers were charged with impaired driving during this period. There were 43 collisions throughout the area; five of those were personal injury collisions in which eight people were injured.

North Bay OPP are continuing their investigation into a break-in that occurred at the Bonfield Medical Center over the weekend.

Some time between 11:00 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. on Sunday December 7th, 2003, someone entered the basement of the Medical building located at 105 Landon Street, Bonfield. Once inside, they attempted to gain entrance to the main medical office tripping the alarm.

OPP North Bay responded. The unknown suspect fled on foot. Nothing was stolen from the Medical Center as police continue checking leads.
