MALE KILLED IN LOGGING OPERATION (Commanda, Ontario) Powassan OPP is currently investigating a sudden death that occurred this morning (Friday June 25th, 2004) in which a male operating excavation equipment fell off of his machine at a logging sight.

Powassan OPP is currently investigating a sudden death that occurred this morning (Friday June 25th, 2004) in which a male operating excavation equipment fell off of his machine at a logging sight.

George Albert Rausch, of Pringle Township, Commanda, Ontario, who was 48 at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene of the logging site. Police were contacted shortly after 7:30 a.m. to attend Granite Hill Road, approximately five kilometers south off of the 522 Highway Commanda Township. The police investigation revealed that the deceased stood up on the excavation equipment, and fell off. No foul play suspected and a post mortem examination is set for Monday June 28th, 2004 in North Bay.

The North Bay Crime Unit, the Powassan OPP and the Ministry of Labour responded and asked the assistance of the North East Region OPP Technical Identification Services Unit (TISU).
