NORTH BAY OPP CLUSTER CANADA DAY WEEKEND INITIATIVE CONTINUES

(North Bay, Ontario)
In keeping with traffic and marine safety, the North Bay, Mattawa, Powassan OPP, the North Bay OPP Marine Unit, as well as the OPP North East Region Traffic and Marine Unit will continue to monitor and enforce traffic and marine laws throughout the weekend.

The North Bay Cluster dealt with traffic issues over Canada Day:

# of Motor Vehicle Collisions(MVC): 5 - (4 involved wildlife)
# of Personal Injury MVC’s: 0
# of Impaired Drivers: 0
# of 12 Hour Suspensions: 6
# of Liquor Violations: 3
# of Other Traffic Violations: 5*

All five “Other Traffic Violations” involved infractions of “Fail to Produce Insurance or No Insurance” under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA).

Motorists should be reminded that if you do not produce your insurance on the road side, you could be fined $65.00. More importantly, if you do not have your vehicle insured, the minimum fine in court is $5,000.00.

Officers will be out on the water this weekend. Insure that you have all the necessary safety equipment on board and operate your vessel safely.

Please have a Safe and Secure holiday for the remainder of the weekend.
