UPDATE: STRANDED BUS TRAVELLERS IN MATTAWA (Mattawa, Ont.) Mattawa OPP detachment had guests in the early hours of Friday January 9th, 2004. 26 passengers and two bus drivers of a westbound Greyhound bus were stranded shortly after 4:15 a.m.

Mattawa OPP detachment had guests in the early hours of Friday January 9th, 2004. 26 passengers and two bus drivers of a westbound Greyhound bus were stranded shortly after 4:15 a.m. when the engine of the vehicle was engulfed in flames.
The Mattawa Fire Department responded.

The incident occurred close to the OPP detachment on Valois Drive, Mattawa.

No one was injured and the passengers were quickly taken from the cold to Mattawa Detachment to keep warm. Currently the stranded bus travelers are having breakfast at a local Mattawa restaurant awaiting a replacement bus.

Traffic is still being rerouted as the bus is yet to be removed from the roadway.
