Winter Travel Safety Message Tray Liners
MTO – OPP and McDonald’s Restaurant

(Northern Ontario)
Winter weather presents the greatest challenge to your car and your driving skills but you reduce the danger by following a few driver safety tips – be prepared and be safe.

The Ministry of Transportation, the Ontario Provincial Police and participating McDonald’s Restaurants, have teamed up to bring travelers winter driving safety messages. Throughout the week of December 8th, watch for the “Use Extra Care…” tray liners in use at local McDonald’s restaurants.

This educational piece was developed by the MTO and launched in 2000. This year’s tray liner features information on MTO’s winter maintenance operations, winter safe driving tips as well as MTO Provincial Call Centre Phone Numbers – an easy way to get the most up to date MTO road condition information.

On Monday, December 8, 2003, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., members of the MTO and the OPP will launch the tray liner campaign, alongside McDonald’s employees, to raise awareness for the importance of safe winter driving. Watch for the colourful tray liners – they’re chockfull of winter driving safety tips.

This year, 500,000 tray liners have been printed for use in McDonald’s Restaurants across the North East Region and locations to our south. Participating McDonald’s are in North Bay, Sudbury, Parry Sound, New Liskeard, Timmins, Kapuskasing, Hearst, Elliot Lake, and Sault Ste. Marie.

The North Bay launch for the tray liners will take place at McDonald’s Restaurant, 999 McKeown Avenue, North Bay, Ontario. Members of the North Bay MTO and OPP welcome everyone to attend this very important safe winter driving awareness campaign.

Make road safety priority one - drive with care and consideration.
