SPRING SEAT BELT INITIATIVE
Continues Into The Weekend

(North Bay, Ontario)
North Bay, Mattawa, and Powassan OPP officers continue this years Spring Seat Belt Initiative into the weekend which concludes Sunday April 25th, 2004. Along with the rest of the Province, they are targeting the use of seat belts and appropriate childcare seats, booster seat or seat belt (depending on the Child’s physical size and development).

The initiative started Saturday April 17th, 2004. To date, the North Bay OPP cluster checked 2,561 vehicles and of that, nine (9) child seats were checked. Motorists have been compliant with child seats; however, police have charged 17 people with regular seatbelt violations.

It only takes a few seconds to properly buckle up, and OPP officers in the area will be out to remind everyone during this safety blitz.

“The combination of rollover crashes and non-use of seatbelts is deadly”, says OPP Deputy Commissioner Maurice Pilon.

Be safe and secure, and buckle up right.
