It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Elsie Mabel Wright (nee Nicholas) on July 17, 2020, 11 days after celebrating her 95th birthday.

Elsie was born in Wales and was the eldest of 6 children born to Harriet Mabel and Llewellyn Nicholas.  She is predeceased by her husband of 38 years William (Bill) Raymond Wright, her granddaughter Kristine Wright, her brothers Cyril (Donna) Nicholas, John (June) Nicholas and the twins Llewellyn (Eleanor) Nicholas and Llelburn (Harriet) Nicholas and her sister Jean (Russell) Burgess.  She was also predeceased by her dear friend of 19 years Jim Aston.

Elsie will be fondly remembered by her twins William (Mary) Wright and Robert (Francine) Wright,  grandchildren Carrie (Kent) Read, William (Katie) Wright, Steven (Tina) Wright and Kevin Wright and her great-grandchildren Jonathan, Steven, Keenan, Kylah, Nathan, Ethan, Sara, Regan, Peyton, Addison, Bryn and Benjamin and many nieces and nephews.

Elsie came to North Bay as a war bride in 1945 after marrying William (Bill) Raymond Wright May 22, 1944 in Wales.  They raised their twins William (Bill) and Robert (Bob) in North Bay Ontario and enjoyed the life of a sports orientated family.

Elsie became a hairdresser opening her own salon, and after retiring still did hair for friends well into her 80’s.  Elsie was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, a volunteer at the North Bay Regional Health Centre for 25 years and loved to attend teas and bazaars at local churches and halls.  She travelled extensively with the Canadian Club and Golden Age Club and always had a little money set aside for bus trips to Casino Rama.

Elsie’s family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Eastholme where she lived the last year of her life as well as the staff at Marina Point where she lived for 4 years independently and enjoyed many social activities.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
