Peacefully passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Monday, December 19th, 2022.

She was the beloved wife of the late John Wishak. Loving mother of Gary Wishak (Suzanne) of North Bay, Linda Tran (Dave) of Ottawa, Peter Wishak of Orleans, Paul Wishak (Susan) of Woodstock, and Brian Wishak (Shirley) of Elk Point, Alberta. She will be lovingly remembered by her 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Lois was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Emma Louise Wood, by her sisters Thelma Atkinson (Charlie) and Peg Timmins (Percy), and by her dear granddaughter and angel Emma Louise Wishak.

Since moving to North Bay in 1955, Lois was an active member of the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption and the Catholic Women’s League. Lois frequently played Bridge, enjoying the social aspect of the game more than the game itself, although she was a skilled card player. With more free time as her family grew older, Lois chose to volunteer in the Nuclear Medicine Department of the former St Joseph’s Hospital, becoming a fixture there through the eighties and nineties.

The family wish to extend special thanks to the staff of The Empire, first responders, staff in the Emergency Department of the North Bay Regional Health Centre, and especially Dr Rothstein, for their exceptional care and compassion.

Visitation will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home on Thursday December 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Larry Rymes at the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption, on Friday December 30 at 10 am. The Mass will be Livestreamed and can be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/MartynFuneralHome. Internment of ashes at Holy Cross Cemetery will follow at a later date. If desired, or in lieu of flowers, donations to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated by Lois’s family. Condolences may be offered online at www.martynfh.com.
