WILMER, Claude (Bill) Eves

Passed away October 12, 2003 at the Kingston General Hospital in his 83rd year. He was the beloved husband of Laura Eves (nee York) for 62 years. Dear father of Sylvia Quigley (Joe) Dennis Eves, Marion Battiston (Ray), Barb Mousseau (Greg). Fondly remembered by ten grandchildren, Rose Ann Hazzard, Cindy and Byron Quigley, Wade and Brad Eves, Kipp and Miranda Battiston, Johann, Kolin and Seleena Mousseau. Four great-grandchildren, Brianna and Kaitlyn Eves, Connor and Tyson Battiston and Keri Quigley and one great-great-grandson Adrian Quigley. He was predeceased by his parents Marion and James Eves of Amherst Island, a sister Isabel Groves and a brother Norman. He is survived by one brother Harvey Eves of Kingston. Wilmer spent 26 years in the military and another 10 years at C.F. Base North Bay as foreman of works before retiring in 1975. He also served in WWII and Korea. He enjoyed his many winters in Florida and was an avid shuffleboard player. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a great hockey fan. A legion service was held the night of visitation. The funeral was held at the Martyn Funeral Home with Reverend Locker and Reverend Woodward officiating. His grandson Kipp gave the eulogy and his sister Miranda read the 23rd Psalm. The pallbearers were his five grandsons and a son-in-law. A luncheon was held in Woodward Hall following the service. Interment in Callander Union Cemetery.
