WEICKER, George H.

George Herbert Weicker, 57, of North Bay and formerly of Shakespeare and Goderich, passed away at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto on Wednesday, November 8, 2006. He was born at Stratford on May 9, 1949 a son of Shirley (Nixon) Weicker of Tavistock and the late George J. Weicker (February 24, 2006). George, along with his wife Dale, had owned and operated Pro-Lift Services Inc. of Stratford from 1983 to 2003. He is survived by his wife, the former Dale Elizabeth Irvine, whom he married at Shakespeare on June 19, 1976; three sons, Nathan Weicker of North Bay, Adam Weicker of Stratford, Matt and wife Sarah Weicker of Fonthill; one granddaughter, Jorja Weicker of Stratford; his mother, Shirley Weicker; one brother, Dave and wife Mary Ann Weicker of Stratford; two sisters, Caroline and husband Bob Routly of Tavistock, Kathy Weicker and Pat McBride of New Hamburg; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert G. “Bob“ and Marjorie Irvine of Shakespeare; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Heather and Preston Gurd of Waterloo, Robert J. “Rob“ and wife Jackie Irvine of Petrolia. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Weicker (October 25, 1978).



There will be no funeral home visitation. A private family service will be held in the FRANCIS FUNERAL HOME, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock. The Reverend David Hammer will officiate. Interment in St. Andrew's Cemetery, North Easthope, Shakespeare. A reception to celebrate the life and times of George will be held at the Shakespeare and District Optimist Hall, Shakespeare on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 from 4 to 8 p.m. A tribute to reflect the life of George will be given by John Waldie at 7 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Leukemia Research Fund of Canada and/or a personal “Gift of Life“ (donation to bloodbank) would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Francis Funeral Home by calling 1-519-655-2431 or during the reception at the Shakespeare Optimist Hall.
