Maureen Estelle (Turner) Waugh

April 1, 1948 to Feb. 28, 2023 

Maureen of North Bay, Ontario passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 28, 2023, at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie, Ontario, at the age of 74. 

Maureen will be dearly missed by husband Ted Waugh of North Bay, daughter Heather of Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague, QC, and son Sandy (Nancy) of Barrie, ON.  Dear Grammy to Thomas (Jenna), Jesse, Charlotte, Cameron, Cassandra, Rowan, and Eleanor, she also leaves to mourn many extended family members and friends throughout the province and country.  

Maureen was born in Kirkland Lake to Bruce and Thelma (Peever) Turner in 1948.  She was predeceased by her infant brother James Harvey.   

Maureen was an elementary school teacher for more than 30 years, working in Kirkland Lake, Burlington, Guelph, and the North Bay area.  She was an active member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir. Maureen volunteered at many community organizations through her church and her longstanding membership in Living Fit, including the Dirty Dozen Volunteer Gardeners at the Heritage Gardens. 

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 7 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00. 

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 8 at 1:00 at Calvin Presbyterian Church at 401 First Ave. West, North Bay. Refreshments will be provided afterwards at the church.
