WARREN, Anthony George “Tony”

Passed away peacefully in the arms of his girls, at the North Bay Regional Health Center on Saturday, September 1, 2012. He left this world on his own terms after a mercifully brief but courageous battle with cancer. Tony was the beloved husband for 52 years of Carol (nee McGhee), he was 76 years old. He was born in Stockport, England in 1936 to Peggy and Bill Warren. Loving father of Janice and her husband Jeff Peters of Blyth and Heather and her husband Dr. Michael Leckie of North Bay. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Justin, Brittney, Anthony, Alex, Ryan and Jennifer. Dearly loved brother of Christine Warren (Gary) of Beaverton and Joan Buhrow (Gerald) of Clifford. Tony was an aviation navigator for 10 years with the R.C.A.F. Following his air force career, Tony joined H.E. Brown Supply and was a loyal employee for 30 years. Tony was a member of the Masonic Lodge #420 and a member of the Rorab Shrine Club’s Klown Unit fondly known as “Grouchy”. Tony was known for his integrity, honesty, faith and “no nonsense” approach to life. His many acts of kindness often went without a thank you and were unbeknownst to the recipient, just the way he wanted it. Tony enjoyed fishing, golfing, snowmobiling, gardening and reading. His greatest source of pride was following the lives and careers of his grandchildren. Through success and failures you knew you would be getting a call from “G par” about what you did right or wrong. His unwavering care for Carol is a lesson of unselfish love. He inspired us and showed us what a husband truly should be. Because of his stoic upbringing during WWII, Tony said every meal was “beautiful” daily crises were inconveniences, friends were treasures, your faith should be unshakeable and life could always be worse.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shrine Sick Children's Hospital in Montreal would be appreciated by the family or to the charity of your choice. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Cowan, Tony’s angels on D3 and the NEORCC Staff for their professional and compassionate care. A time of Fellowship and Reflection of Tony’s Life will be held at the Rorab Shrine Club (1260 Brookes Street) on Friday, September 7th from 2-4:00 PM. Arrangements entrusted to Martyn Funeral Home.
