Alva Marie “Toots” Walsh (nee Parker)

October 19, 1929 – June 11, 2023

Our family lost a ray of sunshine with the sudden passing of a wonderful Mom, Grandma, and a friend to many. Toots passed away suddenly at Cassellholme on Sunday, June 11th, 2023. Toots was the devoted wife of the late Douglas Walsh. Loving mother of Barry Walsh, Brenda Walsh (Cathy Rennie), Mike Walsh (Deb), and predeceased by her children Ken (1991) and Tracy (2021). She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jason Walsh (Danielle), Randy Walsh (Nathalie), Jamie Walsh (Amanda), Kelly Walsh, Ryan Walsh (Jenny), Mark Huard (Kristiina), Josh Huard, Skyler Huard, Missy Rideout (Jacob), and by her great grandchildren Hunter, Easton, Riley, Freya, Aila, and Veera. Toots is survived by her sisters Elsie Josefowich (Dan) and Jean Parker. She will be fondly remembered by Ron Huard. Predeceased by her parents Harry and Martha Parker, and by her sister Shirley Lamb (husband Pat predeceased).

Toots grew up on a farm in Uno Park, along the banks of the “mighty” Wabi River. Mom was the original recycler, whose motto was “don’t throw that out, it’s perfectly good!”

Church played a big role in her life. She was an active member of the UCW, most recently at St.Andrew’s United Church. Toots loved the cottage, especially picking blueberries, gardening, clogging, and inviting friends for tea.

Her family would like to thank the dedicated and compassionate staff at Cassellholme.

Visitation for Toots will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home on Thursday June 22nd from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church on Friday, June 23rd at 11:00 am. Interment of ashes will be in the family plot at the Forest Lawn Cemetery. If desired, donations to St. Andrew’s United Church – General Fund or the Cassellholme Foundation would be appreciated by her family. Online condolences can be offered at www.martynfh.com

She will be missed by her family and her wonderful circle of friends.
