VICKERS, Iris Aileen (nee Johnson)

Iris Vickers died quietly at Eastholme, Powassan on Friday, August 17, 2007 in her 86th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Bill, mother Bessie and father Viv; and her brother Gilbert Johnson. Much loved mother of Colin and his wife Joan of North Bay. Cherished grandmother of Rhiannon and Ryan. She met the challenge of arthritis and Alzheimer's disease with grace. Iris was a long time resident of Ottawa living in Westboro and the West End before retiring with Bill to Mississippi Lake near Carleton Place. They returned to Ottawa and the West End for their final years together. Iris was a loving aunt, sister- in-law and friend to many.



She enjoyed bowling, bridge and golf. With Bill they renovated two homes and travelled extensively. Iris was a model of determination and caring for others. Her humour and joy for life was well known and appreciated. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Eastholme who provided her with a caring community for almost three years. A special thanks to Rev. Marie Loewen for her guidance and support.



The family will receive visitors at the PAUL FUNERAL HOME, Powassan on Sunday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm and at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, Ottawa on Tuesday, August 21 from 12 to 2 pm. The funeral service will follow in the Garden Chapel at 2 pm. Cremation will follow with Interment of ashes in Pinecrest Cemetery at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to One Kid's Place, or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
